The Chinese-Australian Historical Images in Australia (CHIA) database is a catalogue of historical images of Chinese, Chinese immigrants and their descendants held in Australia.
Photographs taken by American public health physician Sylvester Maxwell Lambert (1882-1947) during extensive travels throughout Oceania between 1919 and 1939. Many of the photographs were taken in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Kiribati and Tuvalu.
Our Maps collection includes over 600,000 maps, from early European charts to current mapping of Australia, in print and digital form. All online maps are now freely available for download, in high resolution.
We have over 15,000 rare and historical maps in our collection including some of the earliest cartographic works by explorers of Australasia and other regions.
