The following articles are from a weekly column that appeared in the Press (student newspaper) during the 1973-1974 academic year. They are titled the "Cortland Woman" and were authored by a number of students and faculty on campus. Most of the articles were authored by Fern Lipshitz, a student who was the "women's editor" for the newspaper at the time. Other members of the editorial staff contributed, as well as some professors. The full list of contributors include Fern Lipshitz, Kathy Weeks, Judith Stoikov, Christine Riley, Gilda Zwerman, and Jackie Farrell. The articles focus on topics such as sexual assault, stereotypes, abortion, women's rights, equality, creative works, among others. These are empowering voices that created a printed dialogue on important issues surrounding the campus, students, and society.
Please note that all of the articles only contain one or two introductory paragraphs. This was done for exhibiting purposes only.
