The Teaching Materials Center has a wide variety of different formats, which might seem overwhelming at first. The tabs and links in this section will guide you through each collection's location within the TMC and their unique call numbers. You can also use the map and signs around the room to find exactly what you're looking for. Click on the map image for a larger version in PDF format, or use the link below.

 

Map of the TMC


  • Easy Books: picture books and leveled readers.

  • Graphic Novels: a comic-book style format for various reading levels and topics, both fiction and nonfiction.

  • Nonfiction+: a variety of formats (informational texts, textbooks, etc) and subjects (science, math, etc), for all grade levels from pre-K through high school: also includes non-book items (toys, games, kits, realia, etc).

  • Biography: Books covering historical and modern individuals in a variety of reading levels.

  • Fiction Books: chapter books, as well as middle grade and young adult novels.

  • Jackdaws: themed packets that contain copies of primary source material such as diaries, letters, maps, newspaper clippings and more.

  • Board Books: books on sturdy pages which are ideal for infant and toddler story times.

  • Flannel Board Kits: felt shapes and boards for storytelling and singing.

  • Puppets: a variety of hand and finger puppets: a puppet theater is also available in the Children's Reading Area.

  • Giant Books: oversized books that are ideal for reading aloud to groups.
