APA Citations in ONESearch

APA Citation Help Document (Poli and McPoland)

You found some excellent sources - what next? Be sure to cite them in your paper, whether you paraphrase or use direct quotes. You will use APA citations for your AAS 100 research paper.  The video below explains our citation feature in OneSearch! Before submitting your citations, double-check them for accuracy.

APA Example

Since you're synthesizing and sharing information about a topic in this paper, nearly everything you write will require in-text citations. In addition, you will need a references page. This example APA-formatted paper can be useful for comparison, particularly if you've used a citation generator.

The resources provided by APA, the Purdue Online Writing Lab (commonly called "OWL") is an excellent resource for this. They have a free online style guide for APA, including how to cite tricky or unusual items, creating in-text citations, and formatting your paper.  Here are examples of properly formatted journal article references, provided by Purdue OWL:

APA EXAMPLE:  Author, A. A., Author, B. B., & Author, C. C. (Year). Title of article. Title of Periodical, volume number(issue number), pages. https://doi.org/xx.xxx/yyyy

Baniya, S., & Weech, S. (2019). Data and experience design: Negotiating community-oriented digital research with service-learning. Purdue Journal of Service-Learning and International Engagement, 6(1), 11–16. https://doi.org/10.5703/1288284316979

Please note that in your reference list, you should use a hanging indent for your reference section.  In Word, expand the Paragraph menu, then use the drop-down "Special" menu and select Hanging.
