SocINDEX

SocINDEX is your #1 database for sociological and criminological journal articles!  It has built-in citation searching tools, and contains many of the top journals for Sociology.  Lauren the Librarian's pro tip for SocINDEX is to use the Subject Terms tool to come up with ideas for keywords to use in your search.  Don't forget to use Boolean operators to combine phrases by using the drop-down menus between search fields.

Cited & Citing References

You can identify cited and citing articles very easily when you use SocINDEX.  Cited References identifies articles cited by the author who wrote the article, allowing you to track the scholarly conversation back in time.  Times Cited in this Database identifies some (but not all) of the articles who cited this article, allowing you track the scholarly conversation forward in time.

From the search results page, access the citation search tools from bottom of the article description, near the full-text access links:

From the record (page that loads when you click an article title in search results), access the citation search tools from the top left, under the heading Related Information:
