AAS/POL 311 Tillotson: Dimensions of Racism Spring 2024

Spring 2024

APA Example

Due to the nature of this paper (that is, synthesizing and sharing information about a topic), nearly everything you write will require in-text citations. In addition, you will need a references page. This example APA-formatted paper will be useful to compare yours to as you begin squaring away all of the formatting work especially if you've used a citation generator.

In addition, the resources provided by APA, the Purdue Online Writing Lab (commonly called "OWL") is an excellent resource for this. They have a free online style guide for APA, including how to cite tricky or unusual items, creating in-text citations, and formatting your paper.  Here are examples of properly formatted journal article references, provided by Purdue OWL:

APA EXAMPLE:  Author, A. A., Author, B. B., & Author, C. C. (Year). Title of article. Title of Periodical, volume number(issue number), pages. https://doi.org/xx.xxx/yyyy

Baniya, S., & Weech, S. (2019). Data and experience design: Negotiating community-oriented digital research with service-learning. Purdue Journal of Service-Learning and International Engagement, 6(1), 11–16. https://doi.org/10.5703/1288284316979

Please note that in your reference list, you should use a hanging indent for your reference section.  In Word, expand the Paragraph menu, then use the drop-down "Special" menu and select Hanging.
