Information Literacy Instruction Program

COR 101: Welcome to the Library

COR 101 is an excellent opportunity for students to discover the library, and to meet the subject librarian that works with their major. Students may have library anxiety when they encounter their first research project; library instruction in COR 101 is designed to help ease that!

Interactive Tour

COR 101 instructors will receive an invitation from their assigned librarian (whenever possible, the subject librarian), but you may also reach out to Lauren deLaubell (lauren.delaubell@cortland.edu) with any questions.

Orientation to the Library and the Library Tab in myRedDragon

Each library scavenger hunt takes 50 minutes. You will meet the librarian in the IRA (2nd floor) or B111 (1st floor, between Research Help Desk and Teaching Materials Center).  The class will begin with a brief overview of the Library tab in myRedDragon, including how to access services, information, and research guides.  Then students will complete a scavenger hunt using the free app Goosechase, discovering the library through a variety of activities.  The class wraps up with a conversation about the students' experiences.

Alternative Instruction

Library instruction can take many forms!  If you'd prefer a different focus on the session (e.g., research skills in the major, academic integrity, information literacy related to COR themes), have a discussion with your librarian and they will make it happen.
