What's the Point?

PROFESSIONAL GOAL: This session will familiarize you with the basics of APA citation and ethical concepts involved within academic scholarship.

ASSIGNMENT GOAL: The APA basics will help you format your Curriculum Plan assignment.

Students will recognize the ethical dimensions of information use, creation, and dissemination in order to responsibly create content.

[Beginner Level]

After this session, you'll be able to:

  • Identify aspects of APA style in order to give credit to original ideas from a variety of sources
  • Identify how to apply aspects of APA citation style (paraphrasing, in text citations, etc) in order to integrate sources within your projects (research, presentations, etc)
  • Identify reasons why citation is important in order to understand the connection between citation and respect of other's ideas
  • Explain your contribution to Education scholarship on an emerging level, as students exploring simple research questions and topics

Students will be able to evaluate information, in order to select the best resources for their information needs.

  • Identify credible scholarly sources based on content, authority,  relevance, currency, or other distinguishing characteristics
