Research Wizards

Research Wizards, a new information literacy card game for source evaluation

Game Deck and Player Directions

It is recommended to review directions out loud with students, with pauses for students to sort their decks and conduct the parley phase of play.  To contextualize and reinforce learning, it is recommended to conclude the game with discussion questions; sample questions are provided at the bottom of the player directions file but may be adjusted as needed.

Printing Tips

  • Cardstock:  Cardstock paper will provide durability and aid in shuffling.
  • Duplex:  Print files on a duplex printer.  Cards may be printed using manual duplex for additional accuracy.  In print options, set sheets to flip on the short edge.
  • Cutting:  Cut along all dotted lines.  For best results, cut using the card-front side as a guide, rather than the card-back side.
  • Lamination:  For the best results, cards can be laminated.
    • Print all cards and cut them out as described above.
    • Lay out cards in a laminating pouch with space between each card, to ensure that each card seals individually; then trim excess.
  • Professional Printing:  Contact your local specialty print shop to inquire about professional printing options.
  • Deck Containers:  For longevity and organization, containers for each deck are recommended.  Tuck decks and plastic badge holders are both excellent, inexpensive options.
