WHY

WHY install Libkey Nomad?

The fees you would have to pay if you don't install nomad

To make your research more efficient! When you Google information and find an article online, you sometimes hit a dead end where it asks you to pay for the article.

LibKey Nomad will avoid that problem and connect you to the full text. An icon will appear in the bottom left corner of your browser when searching for articles, giving different access options based on our library's availability.

Example to Search

Say your topic is about teaching strategies and cultural diversity

You turn to Google since you're familiar with it, and try the following, turning to Google Scholar, since you know that's going to give you more academic results: teaching strategies and cultural diversity

What do you do next?

Instead of reaching a dead end (that often says you have to PAY!), Nomad will take you directly to any articles that the Library has access to.

HOW do you install Libkey Nomad?

On your laptop, go to LibKeyNomad.com
Click on the button that says “Get LibKey Nomad Now”

Select the browser you’re using, and follow the instructions to install it. Firefox and Chrome work best!

When installation is complete, you will see a log-in screen to select your college. Type "SUNY Cortland" into the search box and select it. This will remember SUNY Cortland when browsing for articles (you may need to be logged into MyRedDragon).

HOW do you use Libkey Nomad?

When you search for articles with Libkey Nomad installed, an icon appear in the bottom left corner of the web browser giving different access options based on our library's availability.

When available, it can provide you with a link to the article or an option to download the article directly:

It will also provide a link to more access options (i.e., Interlibrary Loan) when full-text is unavailable. This link will bring you into ONESearch for more access options.
