Blackboard Course Retention
On Thursday, May 15, 2014, Information Resources will resume the automatic removal of content from the Blackboard servers. The Blackboard Policy currently states that all content older than three semesters will be removed from the live system. Although it is the faculty member’s responsibility to save copies of the course, Design Help will assist you in the process. Proper archiving of the course ensures that it can be restored within Blackboard should content be needed at a later time. The dates and processes are outlined below. Bb Learn 9.1 is the current learning management system (eLearning) at SUNY Cortland. Faculty utilize the eLearning system to enhance their face-to-face courses by offering items like class notes, email communications, access to the online grade book, online class discussion, and Just-in-Time teaching strategies. Faculty also use the eLearning environment for online and hybrid course offerings.
Design Help provides one-on-one and group assistance to faculty who are using eLearning. Design Help also provides walkins for students to assist in navigating the platform. An in-class demonstration can be requested at least two weeks in advance.
Bb Community provides online collaboration space for campus groups, clubs, committees, faculty, students, and administration. These collaboration spaces will be familiar to users since they are modeled after the course environment used every day. Design Help provides one-on-one and group assistance to faculty who are using Bb Community.
