Introducing Students to the Library

Did you know?  The library has excellent resources for learning more about diversity, and librarians are available to help you:

  • Introduce and demo specific diversity resources to your class
  • Take students on a tour of the library
  • Lead a diversity activity, so students have the opportunity to meet and learn about a librarian

Using this Guide

This guide explains the many ways the library, and particularly LIBRARIANS, can play a role in your freshman seminar ~ COR 101 -  Diversity!

Find resources for classroom activities on your diversity theme.

  • Games Tab
Access downloadable games that will introduce students to finding library resources!

  • Library Tours Tab
Find valuable information about organizing a tour of the library OR a "hybrid" tour, where students get a tour of the physical  building and the online portal in myRedDragon. We also have a downloadable self-paced tour.

  • Instruction Tab
Learn all the ways you can have your class explore your theme - by finding resources online, in our databases, or in our catalog!  These are skills they will use all through college!

  • Get to Know your Subject Specialist-
For every major there is a librarian that specializes in a particular discipline and can help with student's research. Introduce your students to their specialist!  While their classes may change, their subject specialist will always be there to help out!!
